Stand in the Light Choir for People with Memory Loss
1120 Cedar Street
Eau Claire, WI 54701
Monday–Friday 9 a.m.– 4 p.m.
Purpose of the Organization
The Stand in the Light Choir for People with Memory Loss (sponsored by the Aging & Disability Resource Center) is for people in early to mid stages of memory loss. They are partnered with another person to come together to share their love of music. This choir provides an opportunity to bring joy, well-being, purpose, and a sense of community to people with memory loss. There are two sessions held every year: summer/fall and winter/spring. For rehearsal days and times, please contact Carol Parsons. All rehearsals are held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
If you love to sing and help others, this is a great opportunity to become a singing care partner. Some of the members may need a partner and could use some help holding music notebooks, turning pages, answering questions and guiding to and from the cafeteria where we have coffee and snacks prior to rehearsal. No formal music training is needed. There is a volunteer training available for specific strategies, but it is not mandatory. It is extremely important to have consistent rehearsal attendance and a commitment for one whole session.
2017 - 2018 hours for volunteering are Thursdays 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. August 31st to November 16th and January 4th to April 20th.
