University Activities Commission
UAC, a Student Senate Commission
The University Activities Commission (UAC) of the Student Senate is the campus-wide events programming board at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Student programmers select, promote and produce a wide variety of cultural, educational and entertainment programs for the university community.
An all-volunteer, award-winning commission of the Student Senate, the University Activities Commission receives part of the segregated student fee budget to support its activities, which means that UW-Eau Claire students may attend UAC programs at no charge or at significantly reduced cost.
Are you interested in joining UAC?
Membership in the University Activities Commission is open to all UW-Eau Claire students. Meet new people, make new friends, and gain valuable experience in the UAC. Committee meeting times and committee descriptions are posted on the individual committee Web pages listed in the sidebar.
See the different committees below for more information about areas you may be interested in.
To get involved, checkout our Blugold Connect+ page, stop in the Student Orgs Complex (Davies 220), come to a meeting, or e-mail UAC at uac@uwec.edu!
UAC Concerts Committee
Be up close and personal in the music world, as a part of the committee that brings in the bands — from hot new regional bands to cutting-edge artists on tour. The committee is responsible for all larger concerts and The Cabin concerts.
Committee members select and publicize upcoming shows. All members assist show time production — working as stage crew, loading bands in and out, handling crowd control and sales. Shows include alternative, rock, reggae, hip-hop, blues, jazz, country, funk and beyond — there's a show for everyone.
The Cabin of Davies Center hosts free performances nearly every weekend, from open stage opportunities for campus and area talent to performances selected from talented UW-Eau Claire students, faculty/staff and community and nationally touring artists. All performances are completely produced and managed by student members of the UAC Cabin Committee.
The Concerts Committee always welcomes new members. Contact one of the Concert Committee Chairs by emailing us at uac@uwec.edu!
Show Information:
People of all ages are welcome at our shows. Open Stage sign-ups can be found on the UAC bulletin board just outside of The Cabin the Monday before the show. Soft drinks, beer, and specialty coffees and teas are sold at all Friday and Saturday evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
Featured Artists
Two regional artists are selected every semester to perform in The Cabin. Past artists include Ella Jane, Carol Ades, Rafaella, and Jeremy Messersmith.
See the Featured Artists page for the current lineup.
Local Talent
You'll hear some of Eau Claire and the surrounding area's finest musical talent almost every weekend at The Cabin.
Open Mic Nights
Sign up just outside of The Cabin (Davies Center) by 4p.m. on the Friday of the show. Signup will be posted the Monday before each Open Stage on the bulletin board outside of The Cabin. If you performed at the last Open Stage, please wait until the day of the event to sign up, to give new artists the chance to perform. To see when Open Mic Night will be please check UAC's Blugold Connect+ page or The Cabin Website.
Tunes at Noon
We are bringing back Tunes at Noon on Friday's in the Cabin. For almost every Friday at noon you can expect some local artists and or fellow students performing in the cabin while you grab your favorite cup of coffee. Be sure to stop in and listen to some sweet tunes.
Improv
The Cabin is proud to host the talented students of the improv troupe, The Backward Thinkers Society. They will be performing on select Thursday's throughout the academic year.
