Roommate Groups
If you already know who you want to live with, you can create a roommate group through your Housing Portal.
You may initiate a roommate group while completing your housing application, or you may create a group after submitting your application. The student who creates the group is the Group Leader.
To invite someone to your roommate group, the student must already be admitted to UW-Eau Claire. The invited student will remain in Invited status until they accept the invitation. Once the invitation is accepted, the student becomes the Member of the roommate group, confirming that the roommate group is mutual.
Roommate groups must be mutual by May 1, 2027, to be valid. A valid roommate group will have one student listed as the Leader and the other listed as the Member. Housing will not assign students together if their roommate group remains in Invited status.
You can create, accept, or manage roommate group invitations through your Housing Portal until May 1, 2027.
After May 1, 2027, students who have not established a mutual roommate group will be assigned individually based on the housing assignment process.
Looking for a Roommate?
If you don't already know who you want to live with, you can opt into the Roommate Finder through your Housing Portal.
Roommate Finder allows you to search for other students who have answered the roommate matching questionnaire similarly to you. You can also choose to add your social media handles to your profile to help potential roommates learn more about you.
Once you find someone you'd like to live with, you can invite them to your roommate group through the Housing Portal. Remember that the roommate group must be mutual by May 1, 2027, with one student as the Leader and the other as the Member, for Housing to assign you together.
Important Deadline
May 1, 2027, is the deadline to establish a mutual roommate group. Students who have not established a mutual roommate group by this deadline will be treated as individual applicants for housing assignment purposes.
