Federal grant supports UW-Eau Claire’s McNair program
The $275,516 grant for the 2022-23 academic year is expected to be the first of five annual grants to the McNair program on campus. The federal grant is the sole source of funding for the program at UW-Eau Claire.

Harry Mateski is a political science and Broadfield Social Studies teaching education major at the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire from Stanley, Wisconsin. Through the McNair program he has joined Dr. Eric Kasper to research free speech.

Savanna Bonlender is a senior Biology major from West Bend, WI. She is working in collaboration with her mentor, Dr. Tali Lee, to investigate the effects two common pharmaceuticals, atropine and diphenhydramine, have on the Daphnia magna heart rate.
