UW-Eau Claire to host three commencement ceremonies May 20

Commencement exercises for 1,400 students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will be held during three ceremonies on May 20 in Zorn Arena.

Candidates from the College of Arts and Sciences will receive degrees during a 9 a.m. ceremony.

Candidates from the College of Education and Human Sciences and College of Nursing and Health Sciences will receive degrees during the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.

Candidates from the College of Business will receive their degrees during a 5:30 p.m. ceremony.

A total of 1,271 students are candidates for bachelor's degrees, including 544 from the College of Arts and Sciences, 366 from the College of Business, 297 from the College of Education and Human Sciences, and 64 from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

This spring, a total of 129 students are candidates for graduate degrees. In the College of Arts and Sciences, six Blugolds are candidates for specialist in education degrees and 16 students are candidates for a master's degree. Forty-four students are candidates for master's degrees from the College of Business and 40 students are candidates for master’s degrees from the College of Education and Human Sciences. Twenty-three students are candidates for graduate degrees from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, with 21 students earning their doctor of nursing practice degrees and two students earning a master’s degree.

During the 9 a.m. ceremony, Brendin Robbie Larson of Durand, a candidate for a bachelor of music degree in music, will lead the national anthem. Molly Nargiz Urmanski of Edgar, a candidate for a bachelor of arts in communication degree, will give the "Blugold Reflections.” The title of her reflections piece is “I Don’t Buy a Ticket, I’ve Already Won the Lottery.” Hannah Sue Lindquist of Cornell, a candidate for a bachelor of music in music degree, will lead the alma mater.

During the 1:30 p.m. ceremony, Mitchell Robert Krueger of Berlin, a candidate for a bachelor of music education in music degree will lead the national anthem. Trinity James Isham of Eau Claire, a candidate for a bachelor of science in elementary education degree, will give the "Blugold Reflections." Isham’s reflections piece is titled, “Nontraditional in Every Way.” Rowan Kristina Rupakus of Elwood, a candidate for a bachelor of music education in music degree, will lead the alma mater.

During the 5:30 p.m. ceremony, Emily Annis of Durand, a candidate for a bachelor of business administration in management and communication degree, will lead the national anthem and the alma mater. Jackie Lynn Martin of Wrightstown, a candidate for a bachelor of business administration in business finance and economics, will give the "Blugold Reflections." Her reflections piece is titled, “No GPS Will Lead to Success.”

UW-Eau Claire alumnus Horacio Rozanski, president and CEO of Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., will give the “Charge to the Class” during all three ceremonies.

Twelve alumni and friends of UW-Eau Claire will be recognized during the commencement ceremonies as UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association award recipients. Alumni and friends receiving awards are Mary Jane "MJ" Brukardt, Mark Stoering and Nobuyoshi “Nobu” Yasuda, Honorary Alumni Awards; Dr. Gresham Collom and Martha Seroogy, Outstanding Recent Alumni Award; Keith Donnermeyer, Abigail Rindo and Brenda Zamzow, President’s Award; Debbie Kurth, Cinthia Rozanski and Dr. Melissa Spagnolo Sherman, Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award; and Horacio Rozanski, Lifetime Excellence Award.
