Sonnentag Center - Custodian

POSITIONTwo full-time UWEC University Staff Custodial positions are available at the Sonnentag Center, with an anticipated start date in late May or early June 2024. The working title for this assignment is Custodian with an official title of Custodian. The is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. Total compensation package value for this position is estimated at $60,293 (based on salary, family health plan with uniform dental) with a starting salary of $33,280, there is also the opportunity for shift differential. These positions report directly to and receive feedback from Centers USA staff. Available positions are Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday to Thursday, both working from 3:30 PM to 12 AM, some flexibility in hours may be needed due to operational needs of the Sonnentag Center. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Must be able to read, understand, and perform SOPs and WI including, but not limited to understanding cleaning products, their intended application and use. 
  • Adherence to UW System, UWEC campus, and Centers USA work rules. 
  • Basic computer skills to complete on-line forms, access communications and information, and review and respond to emails (Outlook) 

Ability to: 

  • read and understand cleaning procedures, cleaning practices, written work instructions (WI) and written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)  
  • stand and walk throughout an 8-hour shift. 
  • work independently and within a team setting. 
  • work in a variety of weather conditions. 
  • work in large crowds. 
  • lift, push, or pull 40 to 75 pounds. 
  • perform overhead work. 
  • climb ladders. 
  • effectively communicate using a hand-held radio o receive and provide feedback in a positive    constructive, collaborative manner

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Previous industry cleaning knowledge and experience in a team cleaning environment using custodial equipment. 

Advanced knowledge of floor care practices, both carpet and hard floors. 

 DUTIES

 Effectively perform and meet cleaning and maintenance expectations in assigned areas as defined by the SOPs, WI, Blugold standards, customer feedback, team member feedback, supervisor/team leader feedback, and operational instructions. 

  • Maintain all equipment in a clean and working order and custodial spaces in an organized condition, with appropriate product stock. 
  • Work collaboratively and responsively with Sonnentag Center guests, team members, and Centers USA staff.
  • Act as a safety champion by ensuring all activities performed at the Sonnentag Center are done in accordance with Campus policies, safety practices including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and SOPs. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  THE UNITThe unit of the Sonnentag Center will consist of three total UWEC staff members.
