Edward James Sobottka, Cohort 20

I am an enrolled member of the Osage Nation studying psychology at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I was born in Texas but grew up in Knapp, Wisconsin. I love listening to music and spend my free time discovering different genres and artists.

My research mentor is Dr. Heather Ann Moody in the American Indian Studies department at UWEC. My research interests include prosocial behavior and cultural identity, specifically within Indigenous populations. My current research involved traveling to the Osage Nation in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to understand what helping means to Osage people and what motivates them to help others.

My postbaccalaureate goals include pursing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and becoming a licensed psychotherapist, working with Indigenous populations.
