Counseling: Associate Director/Training Coordinator

POSITION:

A Professional Academic Staff position in Counseling Services with the title of Associate Director/Training Coordinator is available beginning August 2024.  This is a full-time annual renewable position. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education. A Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family therapy, or closely related field will be considered if applicant has been licensed for 5 years and has experience providing clinical supervision)
  • Supervised internship or work experience in university counseling center, mental health agency, or related professional setting
  • Experience supervising the clinical work of interns; preference for experience in a multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment
  • Required to be licensed (or license eligible) in the state of Wisconsin

Preferred

  • Clinical experience facilitating general process groups and psycho-educational workshops
  • Experience conducting brief therapy and outreach 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing outreach and clinical services to students of color
  • Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Principal Duties and Functions:

Administrative

* Collaborate with the Director to provide leadership and consultation to colleagues, particularly with urgent and high-risk clinical cases. 

* Assist the Director with key administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to policy development, budget, overseeing staff, generating and analyzing statistical reports, writing the annual report, and utilizing quality assurance processes to ensure accurate and timely documentation.

*Represent the Counseling Center on university and community committees and functions, as appropriate. 

*Serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Director.

Clinical

* Providing individual, group, and couples therapy, as well as crisis intervention counseling services to university students within a brief treatment model.

*Assist in the goal of better meeting the needs of underrepresented students. 

*Providing consultation services to faculty and staff 

*Providing outreach to campus organizations and classes to inform students about personal development and mental health concerns.

*Supervise/train graduate student practicum/interns. 

*Assume other duties as requested by the director, as appropriate.

Training Coordinator

*Oversee the intern/practicum program for graduate level students. 

*Maintain current policies and procedures for the internship program.

*Act as a liaison for the interns universities.

*Recruiting interns, and participation in selecting and hiring interns.

*Facilitate biweekly training team meetings. 

*Facilitate intern seminars.

*Assume other duties as requested by the director, as appropriate.

Unit/Division:

The Counseling Services unit is a part of the Student Affairs Division at UWEC and is overseen by the Dean of Students.  Counseling Services works closely with the Dean of Students Office, Student Health Services, and other student support units to provide integrated care for our clients.

A member of the University of Wisconsin System, UW-Eau Claire, a residential liberal-arts campus, has 10,500 students enrolled in 80 academic programs. The university is located in Eau Claire, situated in west central Wisconsin, 75 minutes east of Minneapolis-St. Paul on Interstate 94.
