English: Lecturer

Position: One full-time instructional academic staff position of Lecturer is available in the English Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire beginning August 19, 2024. This position is for a two-semester appointment (Fall 2024 and Spring 2025), with the possibility of future renewal (based on program need). 

Required Qualifications: 

• M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or a closely related field; or MFA in Creative Writing. ABDs will also be considered. 
• The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of a record of excellence in teaching writing at the college level. 
• Candidates must have at least two semesters of experience teaching first-year composition at the college level. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D or doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, English, or closely related field. 
• Experience with developmental and/or multilingual writers;
• Experience with writing program administration;
• Experience with multimodal composition.
• Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach 15 credits each semester in the first-year writing program, the Blugold Seminar in Critical Reading and Writing (https://www.uwec.edu/academics/blugold-seminar/). Typically, the 15 credits are three 5-credit courses. 5-credit courses are capped at either 15 or 20 students. It is possible for the teaching assignment to be 14 credits: two 5-credit courses and two 2-credit courses. Course delivery is predominantly in person, but some online and hybrid courses might be available.
