Kinesiology: Assistant Professor in Athletic Training

POSITION: A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is available in the Department of Kinesiology. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Athletic Training who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active research program involving graduate students.  This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2024/2025 academic year with a start date of August 19, 2024. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Exercise Science, Motor Development, Rehabilitation Science, Athletic Training (DAT) or related area by August 19, 2024 (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by the start date). 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching and ability to teach athletic training courses in addition to other areas (e.g. graduate research methods, biomechanics, anatomy, acute care of athletic injuries). Candidates must be BOC certified and either possess or be eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin, demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and demonstrate commitment to student/faculty research.

DUTIES: Teach courses in the Athletic Training graduate program and undergraduate kinesiology programs based on needs (anatomy, biomechanics, prevention and care of athletic injuries, evaluation, research methods, clinical practicums, etc.) and in accordance with specialization; participate in research and scholarly activities with graduate students; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University and profession.

DEPARTMENTThe Department of Kinesiology consists of 12 faculty and instructional academic staff and approximately 700 majors and minors. Department faculty are dedicated to teaching and student learning and are actively engaged in student-faculty research. The Department is also recognized for community outreach programs that offer health and physical activity opportunities for individuals living in the Eau Claire area. In addition, the Department collaborates with Mayo Clinic, Chippewa Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, and other clinical entities in the region to provide both clinical education and research opportunities for students.
