Each semester the preservice teachers in General Education Secondary Block (Department of Education for Equity and Justice) are placed in integrated teams that meet with a preservice teacher from the Department of Special Education and Inclusive Practices to discuss co-teaching and the ways that students with IEPs will be integrated into lessons. Over the three sessions, the Gen Ed and SEIP preservice teachers develop asset-based views of co-teaching and the ways that all students will benefit from these partnerships. Dr. Karsten Powell started the program and was joined by Dr. Kyle Whipple, Dr. Emily Freeman, and Dr. Rod Jones as they entered their respective departments.
