Blugold Supercomputing Cluster Consortium received new funding

| Sudeep Bhattacharyay

Two faculty of Blugold Supercomputing Cluster Consortium (BGSCC)* have received new funding from National Science Foundation. Dr. Sudeep Bhattacharyay, Associate Professor of Chemistry, and Dr. Ying Ma, Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, have been awarded a $350,000 grant from the National Science Foundation entitled "MRI: Acquisition of a High Performance Computing Cluster to Enhance the Undergraduate Discovery Experience”. This new computing cluster will provide a significant boost to the existing computational power, benefiting both teaching and undergraduate research across UWEC campuses well as the sister UW campuses. In addition, the computing resources will support outreach programs for local high school students for computational activities.

*BGSCC is a collaborative effort among UWEC students, faculty, and staff members, who are interested in utilizing the computing resources for teaching, research and outreach.
