New York Field Trip

Several groups of UWEC students and faculty traveled outside of Eau Claire to explore New York City, Chicago, and Minneapolis as part of our annually offered field trips.

New York awaited with exciting visits to the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, The New Museum, El Museo del Barrio, The Drawing Center, Brooklyn Art Museum and Chelsea galleries. In addition, a studio visit and presentation by Sebastian Bremmer’s this year completed a fantastic trip.

Chicago did not disappoint as students explored the Frank Lloyd Wright Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, Smart Museum, Oriental Museum, Renaissance Museum, and Chicago Culture Center.

In the Twin Cities, students visited the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Franconia Sculpture Park, and the American Swedish Institute. Students can discover a wide array of art only an hour away from Eau Claire.

Each field trip is a unique experience for students in the Art Department and other disciplines to leave the Chippewa Valley and explore visual art.
