Felz, who has been UW-Eau Claire’s executive director for advising and retention since 2016, will officially begin serving in his new role on July 1. He will provide oversight on many of the projects and goals that make up the priorities of the Enrollment Management division.

“It has been very rewarding to be a part of the Enrollment Management division in its first year; we have made some great progress with recruitment and retention in that time,” Felz said. “Going forward, there are some phenomenal enrollment management ideas to implement that will benefit the student experience and the university. I’m excited to help make those ideas a reality in this new role.”

Felz joined UW-Eau Claire as the assistant dean for the College of Business in 2015 before transitioning to the position of executive director for advising and retention. In his latest position, he directed the creation and implementation of the Advising, Retention and Career Center and has continued to oversee its daily operations. He led the development of UW-Eau Claire’s new advising model, has served as a member of the campuswide enrollment management team, and has partnered with various academic departments and campus offices to implement and improve processes that provide better support for our students.

“Clearly, as he assumes the special assistant role in the Enrollment Management division, Billy brings significant expertise and experience related to UW-Eau Claire’s recruitment and retention efforts,” said Albert Colom, vice chancellor for enrollment management. “His proven leadership and skills in successfully managing campuswide programs and initiatives will be a great asset to this new position.”

Beginning July 1, Colom will serve as interim director of the Advising, Retention and Career Center until a search is completed for a new director.

Before joining UW-Eau Claire, Felz served at several universities in administrative positions in academic affairs, academic advising, residence hall management and student activities. Most recently he was associate director of academic programs for New York University’s Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management from 2011 to 2015. Felz earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UW-Whitewater.
