Get Involved with NCUR 2023

Message from the University Staff Council chair

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will be hosting the National Conference on Undergraduate Research on April 13-15, 2023. This conference will bring thousands of students and their faculty mentors to our campus to celebrate and promote undergraduate research and achievement. The conference will include research presentations, performance and visual arts presentations, plenary sessions, workshops and networking opportunities. As a host institution, we will have the opportunity to showcase programs and departments on campus by sponsoring affinity open houses, a Library After-Dark event, an open mic night and many more social networking activities.  In addition, conference attendees will have the opportunity to explore the Chippewa Valley through excursions, tours, dining experiences and a major downtown street fair. Not only will this contribute to the health of our institution, but will be a great boost to our community as well.

The planning of the conference has just begun and there are various ways in which university staff have the opportunity to contribute their time and talents to make NCUR 2023 a success. If you have skills in communication, event planning, hosting, organization, customer service, attention to detail and problem solving, please consider helping with the planning and coordination leading up to 2023. If that’s not up your alley and you would rather work the day-of event activities, that’s great too.

I encourage you to fill out the survey located on the NCUR website where you can identify your areas of interest, availability, and skills. A director or member of the planning committee will reach out to you to talk about how you would like to contribute and then talk with your supervisor on how to incorporate it into your regularly scheduled work day. This is an exciting opportunity to show off your talents, advance your skills, expand your network – and it looks great on your resume!

Please reach out to me or the NCUR co-chairs if you have any questions.
