UW-Eau Claire to host 40th Annual Mathematics Meet for high school students Feb. 17

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire mathematics department will host the 40th Annual Mathematics Meet for high school students on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Thirty-two teams from 11 schools will compete in this year’s competition, representing the following high schools: Aquinas, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire Memorial, Eau Claire North, Regis, River Falls, Spring Lake Park (Minnesota), Tomah, McDonell, Stanley-Boyd and West Salem.

The competition features four individual events and one team event, separated by the school’s division size. Individual awards will be presented to the top six individuals in each division and team awards will be given to the top two teams. All competitors and team sponsors will receive T-shirts and participation certificates.

UW-Eau Claire scholarships, funded by a grant from Xcel Energy, will be awarded to the top four individual winners in each of the three divisions at an award ceremony beginning at approximately 1:45 p.m. in UW-Eau Claire’s Davies Center.

In the case of inclement weather, the meet will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24.
