Giving Tuesday provides countless opportunities to double donor impact

As Blugolds prepare for their upcoming winter holidays and page through ads for Black Friday shopping, we hope you’ll also keep in mind another upcoming celebration: Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is an international day of charitable giving and an opportunity to celebrate the impact that Blugolds can have on the people and campus causes they care about. And, for UW-Eau Claire, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to double the impact of your gift through a number of matching opportunities.

Highlights among the matching challenges include a $50,000 match by alumnus Dr. Jeff Jones for gifts made to support the reestablishment of the Blugold men’s baseball team, a $10,000 match from by Gary (’79) and Lori Withers for gifts made to the Excellence Fund, a $5,000 match by Thomas (’79) and Susan Touchette for the Hmong Critical Studies Resource Center and a $3,000 match for gifts made by UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff. You can find more opportunities for matching gifts and make your Giving Tuesday gift at givingday.uwec.edu.

The day also features matches during specific times, so donors can stay connected throughout Dec. 3 to watch for opportunities to have gifts matched to the university fund of your choice.

The 2018 Giving Tuesday was the UW-Eau Claire Foundation’s most successful campaign to date, with a total of $96,185 in donations from 417 gifts.
