The UW-Eau Claire Sales Team placed fourth place at the Redbird National Sales Competition (RNSC) hosted on February 10-12,2021. The Virtual RNSC is a collegiate sales competition hosted by the Professional Sales Institute at Illinois State University.
A total of 84 students from 35 universities took part in two rounds of individual sales role plays for a chance to advance to further rounds.
Erin Benck, senior professional sales major, and Nic Harris, senior marketing major, both advanced to the third round and ended up only a few points away from securing a spot in the final four, but their individual scores placed them both in the top 10% overall.
Lizzy Wolterman, senior marketing major, scored well in the first two rounds and placed third in her assigned room, which kept her individual rank within the top 50%.
All three of these dedicated sales team members deserve to be recognized for helping UW-Eau Claire secure recognition as a top university just behind Illinois State in third place, LSU in second place and UW-Whitewater taking first place this year.
On March 5-8, 2021, Benck and Harris will compete in role-play competition at National Collegiate Sales Competition (NCSC) participating in the same Gartner sales scenarios they practiced at RNSC. Wolterman and other sales team members will take part in speed selling at NCSC.
The UW-Eau Claire Sales Team represents the university at collegiate sales competitions around the United States where they compete for prizes and meet prospective employers. Team members work hard and have fun. They meet weekly for individualized coaching that develops their sales and communication skills and enhances their self-confidence. The extra hours of practice pays off—100% of all team members who report having a job prior to graduation.
The team is supported by the Department of Management and Marketing, gifts from friends and corporate sponsors, and a grant from UW-Eau Claire Blugold Commitment funds.
Any UW-Eau Claire marketing major or minor may be part of the sales team. The team is selected in the spring semester for the following academic year. Dr. Lenita Davis, associate professor, and Jess Gardner, marketing and management associate lecturer, are the faculty coaches for the Sales Team.
