UW-Eau Claire Recognizes National Procurement Month

In recognition of National Procurement Month, March has been proclaimed Procurement Month throughout the State of Wisconsin by Governor Tony Evers. In Fiscal Year 2022, state procurement staff were responsible for procuring more than $2.5 billion in general goods and services to support operations that allow agencies to provide critical services to the citizens of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld highlighted the efforts of procurement staff across all State agencies and campuses.

“State procurement staff are held to high standards for professionalism, ethics, and transparency, and they deserve recognition,” said Blumenfeld, noting that, “We are proud to be good stewards of taxpayer funds to provide needed materials and services to the state, as well as additional opportunities for businesses to do business with the State of Wisconsin.”

The Procurement & Strategic Sourcing department at UW-Eau Claire procures goods and services for the University. They also provide guidance on procurement practices at the University in accordance with good business practices, state law, and UW System and campus policies, practice directives and guidelines.

“I’m so proud of the Procurement and Strategic Sourcing team we’ve established at UW Eau Claire,” says Cheri Falkner, director of procurement & strategic sourcing. “While most people likely think of purchase orders and p-cards when they hear our department name, this dedicated team is specially trained in contract management, negotiating, software licensing, and State of Wisconsin procurement laws. We touch every aspect of campus life and are a key aspect of campus strategy.”

Grace Crickette, vice chancellor for finance & administration, recognized the department's hard work and dedication.

"Our Procurement & Strategic Souring team works daily to provide exceptional customer service and expertise to the university community" said Crickette. "Their work is vital to the financial and logistical health of UW-Eau Claire as we continue to work on being a more sustainable and efficient campus."
