Celebrating Lunar New Year and cultural diversity

| Kaishan Kong

Supported by the Languages Department, students in the Chinese language and culture classes celebrated the Lunar New Year in February.  Students learned about the cultural products, practices, and perspectives through a variety of interactive activities including writing Chinese calligraphy, making paper craft, receiving red envelopes, tasting Chinese New Year snacks, and saying new year wishes in Chinese. We were excited to invite four Chinese international students (Yinan Song, Hui Chen, Yuan Xu, Zhennan Xie) and a visiting scholar from Uzbekistan (Munojat Sultonova) to join us to celebrate cultural diversity. It was an incredible opportunity for local students to interact with international students and scholar to exchange cultural knowledge.
