The Office of Risk Management, Safety and Sustainability provides the following services:
Risk management and safety
The goal of this office is to provide a safe and healthful environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. It meets this goal through proactive loss prevention and thorough property and liability claims management. Hazardous waste management
We enforce, interpret and develop policies and procedures to achieve compliance with federal and state regulations regarding hazardous waste. This is accomplished through efficient and effective hazardous waste management, training and technical programs.
We ensure an environmentally safe campus through environmental audits and assessments.
Vehicle use and driver authorization
We assure persons driving on university business have met the state of Wisconsin driving requirements and have been authorized. This is accomplished through management and enforcement of current regulations and procedures. Check out the driver authorization page for more information.

The mission of University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Department of Sustainability is to inspire the community to practice sustainable actions through social well-being, economic prosperity, and environmental health. UW-Eau Claire is committed to offering a physically, psychologically and emotionally safe environment for all youth. To support this mission, our Youth Protection Program is responsible for overseeing youth policies and guidelines, and ensuring accurate accounting of the youth participating in UWEC programs. Safety processes and compliance structures focus on protection of minors who are not enrolled in UWEC classes, but who participate in youth programs on and off campus.
