Scholarships Available to Social Work Majors

The Social Work Department has several scholarships available to students admitted to the social work major. Explore the scholarship options and learn how to apply below.

When to Apply

The application period is typically January to mid-March and will be announced in the last department newsletter of the fall semester and the first department newsletter of the spring semester. Students must be returning in the fall semester to be considered for these scholarships.

Pre-BSW students: The scholarship application period overlaps with the spring application to major cycle. If you have not yet been admitted to the major but will be applying to the major during the spring application cycle, we encourage you to apply to these scholarships.

Directions for submitting an application

  1. Scroll to Scholarships for Returning Students and click on Gold for Blugolds.
  2. Click on the “Start Application” button next to the College of Health and Human Sciences Scholarship Application option.
  3. Fill out the form and be sure to respond to all the required prompts.
  4. To be considered for the Madeleine E Lieffring scholarship, the Corinne Buckley Liegel scholarship, or the Norman White Scholarship, complete the essay prompts.

Decisions

Recipients will be notified via email approximately two weeks after the application deadline. Recipients will be asked to write a thank you letter to the donor.

Awarding

The full scholarship award will be applied to the upcoming fall semester.
