Peer Tutoring

Tutoring sessions may look different session to session based on your goals. Tutors will work with you to review course material, practice problems, and clarify concepts. While your tutor cannot assist directly with graded work, they will help you develop skills and strategies so you can learn more effectively. Your tutor will ask questions to help you learn, so expect to do most of the talking.

Keep an eye out for a welcome email from your tutor before your first appointment with details on your upcoming session. Communicating your questions, course or topic information, and goals with your tutor helps them prepare for your session.

Tutoring sessions typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour, but there is flexibility based on your needs and your tutor's schedule.

You can meet with a tutor once or twice during a semester, or you can set up recurring appointments after your first tutoring session. You can schedule up to three appointments per week per course with a total weekly maximum of five appointments. We recommend no more than two appointments be scheduled for a single day. Appointments can be made between 24 hours and 2 weeks in advance.

Appointments must be cancelled in Navigate at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled time. To cancel a previously scheduled appointment, log into the Navigate app or website, click on your upcoming appointments, select Cancel My Attendance, and follow the on-screen directions. Email your tutor if you need to cancel an appointment less than 24 hours before the scheduled time.
