These annually-occurring utility outages are for scheduled preventive maintenance and repair that reduce unplanned emergency outages due to breakdowns.
This Spring’s planned electrical outage will begin at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18 and conclude the evening of Wednesday, May 19, 2021. This year’s electrical outage will affect all buildings as campus feeders will be shut down to inspect the main breakers and transformers. There are six feeds that are tied to building power, so each building is expected to be without power for 2 to 4 hours. Facilities staff will coordinate the specific inspection schedule with assigned building coordinator.
This spring’s planned steam outage will occur on Saturday, May 15, 2021, 6:00 p.m. through Monday, May 24, 2021, 12:00pm. There will be no potable hot water during the steam outage – except for the following locations that have electrical or natural gas backup hot water generation equipment.
