UW-Eau Claire Chancellor Search

As part of the search for the next Chancellor, UW-Eau Claire is holding listening sessions to gather input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members. These sessions are an important opportunity for attendees to share perspectives about UW-Eau Claire's strengths, needs, and priorities, as well as the qualities and experience we believe are most important in the next Chancellor.

Each listening session is designed as an open forum, where participants will have the opportunity to share feedback with members of the UW-Eau Claire Chancellor search committee. Feedback from these sessions will be collected and utilized by the search committee and search firm as they conduct their recruitment efforts.

Amy B. Bogost, President of the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents, and Jay Rothman, President of the Universities of Wisconsin, have appointed an 11-member Search and Screen Committee to help identify the next UW–Eau Claire chancellor.

Regent Karen Walsh will chair the Search and Screen Committee. Arthur Grothe, Professor of Theatre Arts, will serve as vice chair. Other members of the committee are:

• Tom Palzewicz, Regent
• Amy Traynor, Regent

The Search and Screen Committee is expected to convene in the coming weeks to receive its formal charge and review search procedures. A team of staff from Universities of Wisconsin Human Resources, the Office of the Board of Regents, and the executive search firm WittKieffer will support the committee throughout the process.

The committee will identify and interview candidates. After the committee has established a list of qualified candidates who merit further consideration, a Special Regent Committee will review candidates forwarded by the Search and Screen Committee, interview finalists, and forward a hiring recommendation for consideration by the Board of Regents. The Special Regent Committee will include Regents Walsh, Manydeeds III, Nixon, Palzewicz, and Traynor and will be chaired by Walsh.

The successful candidate will require the approval of the full Board of Regents.

The search for the next Chancellor of UW-Eau Claire is being conducted by the Universities of Wisconsin in collaboration with the Board of Regents. Details on the nomination and application process will be shared via the official Universities of Wisconsin careers portal.

For formal consideration, applicants should submit materials including the following:

1. a letter of application addressing the leadership opportunities and qualifications articulated within this document; and
2. a curriculum vitae or résumé.

The position will remain open until it is filled. Complete applications received by February 2, 2026, are assured full consideration. Nominations and expressions of interest will be treated in confidence.

Confidentiality

The Universities of Wisconsin will not reveal the identities of applicants who request confidentiality in writing, except as required by Wis. Stat. § 19.36(7), which requires disclosure of those identified as final candidates for the position of Chancellor.

Employment will require a criminal background check. It will also require applicants and references to answer questions regarding employee misconduct, sexual violence and harassment.
