In addition to discussing effective evidence-based teaching and learning approaches, WTFS participants are guided through systematic research focused on improving student learning through a scholarship of teaching and learning project. The program will culminate with a research presentation in spring 2027.

“Being an educator is challenging because it requires both deep expertise in your field and the ability to help a wide range of students learn, grow and be inspired. That is why I am grateful to be selected for the Wisconsin Teaching Fellows & Scholars program — because it reflects a commitment to improving education at a fundamental level,” Fine says.

The WTFS program is directed by Dr. Sarah Riforgiate, professor of communication at UW-Milwaukee, and Dr. Georjeanna Wilson-Doenges, professor of psychology at UW-Green Bay.

Wisconsin Teaching Fellows & Scholars is one of three programs offered by UW’s Office of Professional and Instructional Development, which serves all 13 UW universities.
