Intro text

Earning a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is something to be proud of. It takes a lot of work. It involves classroom, clinical and immersion experiences. It’s a program that demands a lot. It’s not a program you can just dance your way through.

It turns out, however, you can sing your way through it.

At least that’s the case for Nicholas Strauss. He will graduate in December with his BSN and will be leaving campus with more than his nursing degree. He’ll be leaving with the memories made from all he’s done outside the classrooms, simulation labs and clinical appointments.

Many of those memories are of his time performing on stage as a member of The Singing Statesmen and Concert Choir, along with stage performances at Cabaret. Others come from his time as Homecoming royalty. Then there are those memories he made while telling future Blugolds about what they can look forward to when they step onto this campus, in his role as a Campus Ambassador.

We sat down with Strauss to learn more about how his activity in performing arts on campus has made him a better nurse.
