No matter your path, here at UW-Eau Claire, our highly trained voice faculty will help you to develop your musical skills and find your niche. Small class sizes promote meaningful relationships amongst peers, and a more personalized education from our student-focused faculty. VOICE AT UW-EAU CLAIRE

A vocal education at UWEC consists of weekly one-on-one lessons with one of our distinguished voice faculty. You will prepare a variety of solo repertoire and perform frequently in your voice professor’s studio class. Music education and performance majors enroll in voice pedagogy, exploring voice science and how to be a successful voice teacher. Voice performance majors enjoy a vocal literature course and diction classes in English, German, French, and Italian.

Start building your professional network through our voice faculty and their connections at every level of the industry. Explore the business side of performing by enrolling in our New York City Aspiring Artists Immersion Trip where you'll fly to NYC and meet with professionals in your specific field.

OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATRE

As a voice major at UWEC, your performance opportunities will be as plentiful as you wish. Since we are a purely undergraduate program, all major roles in operas and musicals are played by budding performers just like you! In addition to mainstage productions, you can join opera and musical theatre workshop where you will explore your voice and artistry with master teachers.

CHORAL MUSIC EDUCATION

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Music and Theatre Arts Department maintains a tradition of excellence in the field of Music Education. As an undergraduate-only department, our focus is on the experience of our undergraduate students. We provide various opportunities for you as both a musician and future music educator.

2024 Concert Choir
CONCERT CHOIR
Concert Choir has a long-standing tradition of choral excellence at UW-Eau Claire. This mixed (SATB) ensemble prides itself on performing advanced repertoire from all periods, styles and genres of music. Throughout its history, Concert Choir has performed at regional and national conventions.
2024 Women's Concert Chorale
WOMEN'S CONCERT CHORALE
Women’s Concert Chorale (WoCo) is a treble ensemble that specializes in the study and performance of repertoire written specifically for treble voices. Women’s Concert Chorale is featured at several concerts throughout the year, including the annual Viennese Ball and has been featured at numerous regional and national conventions. This ensemble tours annually in the Upper Midwest and In 2017, the ensemble toured Central Europe.
2025 Singing Statesmen
THE SINGING STATESMEN
Playful in their demeanor, serious in their art — the Singing Statesmen never fail to entertain an audience. As one of the premiere TTBB ensembles in the United States, The Statesmen perform at several concerts throughout the year and tour the Upper Midwest annually. The ensemble has been featured at a number of regional and national conventions, most recently at the Wisconsin Music Educators Convention (2015) and the Intercollegiate Male Chorus Convention (2016). In 2017, the ensemble toured Central Europe.​ This group is not only exceptionally talented, but a brotherhood as well, sharing this motto: “Once a Statesman, always a Statesman.”

SYMPHONIC CHOIR
Symphonic Choir is a 90-member mixed choir that specializes in the study and performance of extended works composed for choir with instrumental accompaniment. The group is composed of students, faculty, and staff from many scholastic disciplines within the University as well as interested singers from the greater Chippewa Valley and Eau Claire community.
2022 UWEC Novum Voce Choir
NOVUM VOCE
Novum Voce is the newest choral ensemble at UW-Eau Claire. is a chamber ensemble of voices that sing advanced repertoire from the early Renaissance to music of the 21st century. This ensemble is mostly comprised of first-year music majors to help build a strong foundation for musical excellence as they start their journey in UWEC’s music program. The ensemble performs at several departmental concerts, including A Cappella Extravaganza and the Holiday Concert.
