Move-In Information

All the details you need

Blugolds, we are so excited to welcome you to your new home at UW-Eau Claire. Please read the information below carefully to learn about the drop-off option and the move-in days option as well as tasks you need to complete before you arrive on campus.

Option #1: Drop-Off

The drop-off move-in option is available for first-year, transfer and returning/current students who are looking to drop-off items to their dorm prior to officially moving in.

The intention of this time is for you to bring the majority of all your items prior to officially moving in, so only final remaining items (such as a single suitcase) are brought during move-in days. This is done to assist in promoting physical distancing during move-in days as well as limit the use of stairwells, elevators and other tight spaces.

During drop-off, students are prohibited from setting up their room, decorating or staying over. Students should only be unloading and moving in their items. All individuals are required to wear masks while on campus.

Drop-Off Q&A

What are expectations during drop-off?

Please make sure you arrive during your scheduled two-hour window on your registered date as we work hard to provide proper physical distancing during this process. You may bring boxed/bin items, clothes and larger items to be put into the room. Further set up of your room, including decorating, is prohibited. Students and guests will not be allowed to stay in their rooms past their drop-off time.

Can anyone help me drop off items and bring them up to my dorm?

Two guests per student are allowed to help you unload your dorm items and bring them up to your room. Move-in bins are available, but personal carts or dollies are recommended. Move-in bins borrowed from the university will be cleaned between each use. All individuals (guests and students) are required to wear masks while on campus.

Where do I park when I arrive on campus for drop-off?

Once you select your drop-off date and time, please check your email for a registration confirmation message. This will include full parking guidelines. You will NOT need a parking permit during drop-off.

After drop-off, when can I officially move-in to the dorms?

First-year and transfer students participating in drop-off can officially move-in to their dorms on Aug. 26, 27 or 28, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. You do NOT need to register for a move-in time slot. Simply arrive during your preferred date and time.

Returning/current students participating in drop-off can officially move-in to their dorms on Aug. 28, 29, 30, 31 or Sept. 1, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. You do NOT need to register for a move in time slot. Simply arrive during your preferred date and time.

Two guests may help you bring your final items into your dorm on your official move-in day.

What should I do when I’m ready to officially move in?

Need to change your move-in option or switch your reserved date or time?

If you selected the move-in option, but now want to change to the drop-off option, you may do so (as space allows) as long as you re-register by Aug. 6. If you selected drop-off, but now want to change to a move-in time, you must re-register by Aug. 21. You may also keep your preferred move-in method, but switch the date or time, so long as space is available and you meet the Aug. 6 or Aug. 21 deadline.

Note: If you want to see other date/time availability, you do need to give up your current registered date and time slot, which may not be available again once you go to select a new time. Make sure you are okay with potentially losing your current registered date/time before checking other move-in availability.

To make a change, go to My Housing Portal. Click “Misc” and then click “Change Date/Time.”
