The Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program

The Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire BSW program and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. This training program is designed to educate and train BSW students to prepare them for employment in public child welfare. This program will provide financial support to BSW students interested in pursuing a career specific to child welfare.  The goal of this training is to strengthen the Wisconsin public child welfare workforce.

Admitted Trainees:

  • Receive federally funded tuition and stipends for two semesters.
  • Complete specific coursework in child welfare.
  • Engage in a child welfare-focused internship.
  • Upon graduation, commit to working at least one year in Wisconsin in public child welfare.

How to Apply:

Applications are accepted each semester.  The social work department will notify students when the application period is open for a given semester.  Full-time BSW students who are on target to complete their internship a year after the application period are eligible to apply.  Applicants to the traineeship must hold U.S. citizenship or have permanent residence status at the time of application.
