Connections that will last a lifetime

Singing groups that reunite year after year as alumni to perform; guest artists that offer personalized instruction from some of the premiere artists in the world; opportunities to share your talents around the world in performance trips to places like Italy, New York, Spain, Greece and Washington, D.C.

If these don’t exactly sound like typical undergraduate experiences, it’s because they are not. But they are exactly the kind of incredible opportunities that students of music or theatre arts are able to find at UW-Eau Claire. When you give your best in this program, it gives back to you in countless ways!

The chance to be a part of something amazing

Kate Rosenberger fell in love with music while playing trumpet in her high school's pit orchestra. She chose UW-Eau Claire’s music program because of the department's caring faculty and staff — and their deep commitment to student success. In fact, Kate was so confident in her choice that she only applied to UW-Eau Claire. She was determined to be a part of something amazing.

With dreams of playing trumpet in Broadway productions, Kate found confidence and encouragement in not only UWEC’s music department overall, but also in its distinguished trumpet studio.

“The trumpet studio at UWEC not only encourages you to become a great trumpet player, it also encourages you to become a better human. We have to learn how to be a good human first, especially if we want to succeed in whatever we do!”

While I believe the musical instruction is second-to-none, the personal growth I gained from being a part of the UWEC music community has been even more beneficial to my professional career.

But wait, there’s more

Can’t get enough singing, dancing and creating? There’s plenty of all that to go around when you join a student organization. Not only is it a blast to hang out with Blugolds who share the same interests as you, but forming a network is important.

Make yourself at home in Haas

Some students want to rehearse in groups, work in large collaborative spaces and surround themselves with the buzz of creativity that permeates Haas Fine Arts. Others prefer quiet spaces to fine-tune their art, to look inward for the inspiration to take it to the next level. Whatever type of artist you choose to be, you will find the space to learn and grow in Haas Fine Arts Center.

Where it all goes down

Spectacular visitors

Not all undergraduates can say they've had a master class with a Grammy winning soprano known in opera houses around the world. If this kind of world-class instruction interests you, look no further.  It's a cornerstone of our music and theatre arts program.
