Dr. Robert Stow has served as the Director of Athletic Training Program (ATP) at UW – Eau Claire and currently is the Clinical Education Coordinator while also a member of the faculty for the Department of Kinesiology. Dr. Stow teaches a variety of classes within the MSAT, involving evaluation/assessment techniques, soft tissue manipulation, therapeutic modalities, anatomy, and applied nutrition. His current research interests have been influenced by the use of technology in the educational setting, with an interest in how technology could be used to assist the transfer of learning. Dr. Stow also has a strong research interest in the use of manual therapy as part of the rehabilitation process and Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI). He is active with the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers’ Association as a member of the research and outcomes committee. Dr. Stow also has various certification and licensures as an Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Graston Technique, Titleist Performance Specialists, and Selective Functional Movement Assessment.

Responsibilities

Clinical Coordinator, MS in Athletic Training Program

  • Establish clinical education sites, clinical rotations, and develop preceptor educational programs
  • Assist program director in the maintenance of CAATE accreditation, development of strategic planning, and marketing/recruitment for the AT program
  • Develop and administer assessments and data collection related to the clinical education program
  • Review and develop the didactic and clinical curriculum

 Associate Professor, Department of Kinesiology

  • Instruct in the athletic training education program and department courses
  • Serve as the academic adviser for the athletic training education program
  • Contribute to various committees within the department of Kinesiology and the campus community
