We provide comprehensive, student-centered recreational experiences through operational excellence and sustainable stewardship that support wellbeing, enhance academic learning, and foster equitable access, engagement, and a strong sense of belonging.

Purpose

Advance student success through recreation experiences that promote wellbeing, leadership development, meaningful connection, and lifelong healthy behaviors.

This pillar focuses on student growth outcomes that directly support UW–Eau Claire’s mission to foster student learning and success, including:

Strategic Priorities

  • Cultivate student connection, community, belonging, and persistence through participation in recreation programs and activities
  • Support holistic wellbeing through intentional, inclusive programming and accessible recreational opportunities
  • Develop student leadership and transferable skills through employment, training, and involvement experiences

Pillar Two: Operational Excellence and Sustainable Stewardship
 

Purpose

Provide high-quality facilities, programs, and operational systems that responsibly support a safe, efficient, and sustainable recreation experience for the UW–Eau Claire community over the long term.

This pillar focuses on the infrastructure, resources, and delivery systems essential to sustaining recreation services and supporting institutional priorities. Key areas include:

  • Maintain safe, functional, and welcoming recreation facilities that support diverse user needs
  • Utilize data-informed decision making to enhance services, optimize operations, and guide continuous improvement
  • Plan strategically for long-term facility, staffing, and equipment needs
  • Ensure responsible fiscal stewardship through sustainable budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-effective practices

  • Reduce barriers to participation by creating multiple pathways for engagement

  • Design and offer experiences that engage students who are less likely to participate in traditional recreation programs
