Award:
Students may receive up to $1,000 per fiscal year (July 1-June 30) to present the results of their research/creative activity at a regional, national, or international conference/meeting (including the National Conference on Undergraduate Research aka NCUR). If a presentation includes multiple student presenters, up to $2,000 may be awarded to be shared among the students of that presentation.
As a condition of the travel grant, students are expected to present their results at the annual UW-Eau Claire Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA) or the Universities of Wisconsin Symposium for Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity, if they have not presented these findings at one of these venues previously.
Eligibility:
UW-Eau Claire students who have documentation of a paper or poster being accepted at a professional conference/meeting and who plan to present their research findings are eligible to apply. Faculty/staff co-presenters can seek travel funding through their department/program.
Deadline for Application:
Apply as early as possible (even if you don’t yet have confirmation of your presentation acceptance). At a minimum, the application must be received by ORSP at least 3 weeks prior to the initiation of travel. Please note that processing of the application may take several weeks.
No funds will be awarded if the application is received after the travel has occurred. Funds for this program are limited.
Application Process/Writing Guide:
Student Travel for the Presentation of Research Results applications are processed in BP Logix; see application link below. Generally, one application should be submitted per presentation with all presenters listed on the same application. If a research team is attending the same conference/meeting and has multiple presentations, please complete one eform application and attach a completed group travel spreadsheet identifying presenters, presentation titles, and expenses per student.
The application should consist of:
- Student Travel for the Presentation of Research Results eform
- Applicants must clearly explain and justify all requested expenses in the budget explanation section of the form.
- A document (in Word or PDF format) confirming the acceptance of the presentation from the conference organizer that clearly indicates your name as a presenter, the presentation title, and other relevant presentation information (which can be uploaded as an attachment in the form). If you don’t yet have your acceptance, please submit your form without it, and email orsp@uwec.edu with the confirmation of your acceptance when you receive it.
If your travel has been funded, look below at "How to Access Your Student Travel Funding" to complete the remaining requirements for reimbursed travel.
