The new, five-story building — a shared space with Mayo Clinic Health System — is designed to accommodate the types of research, teaching, and collaborations that have defined UWEC for decades. The Science and Health Sciences Building will be the largest science facility among regional comprehensive universities in the UW System and the largest academic building on UW-Eau Claire’s campus.

How Blugolds will benefit from the new Science and Health Sciences Building

  • Access to state-of-the-art learning facilities, including hands-on labs for student learning, prototyping and fabrication, and nursing simulations.
  • Updated spaces for long-standing Eau Claire community resources like the James Newman Clark Bird Museum, L.E. Phillips Planetarium, Observatory, Materials Science and Engineering Center, and Blugold Center for High Performance Computing.
  • Working spaces for research collaboration with Mayo Clinic Health System.
  • Student gathering areas to inspire student interaction and innovation, as well as ways to view projects in the works.
  • The new Science on Display, which will highlight science through physical models, animations, and videos, and inspire the future generation of scientists, engineers, and healthcare workers.
