Withdraw from a Fall or Spring Semester Class

You can drop a full-semester course from your schedule through the second week of classes in CampS without that course showing up on your record.
Note: This timeline is adjusted for course that are not a full semester long (i.e. summer or winterim courses), you can find withdraw periods for these in CampS.

If you would like to drop a class after the second week of the semester, you will have to follow these steps:

Understand withdrawing from a class from your schedule after the drop deadline has passed and what it will do to your academic record.

  1. For full-semester classes, during the third week of classes through the tenth week of classes, you will need to complete a Change of Registration eForm to withdraw from a course. You will need to get approval from your advisor and instructor in order to do so. Withdrawing from a class during this period will result in a “W” record on your transcript.
  2. At the start of the eleventh week of class, withdrawing from a course is no longer allowed except in extenuating circumstances. Consult with your advisor regarding questions.

Note: Make sure you complete all steps to withdraw from a course. A student who stops attending a class without withdrawing officially may receive a grade of F for the course and may owe a repayment on financial aid received. If you are looking to withdraw from all of your courses at UWEC, you must withdraw from the university.

Drop a Winterim Class

You can drop winterim courses at any point before the term begins without consequences. Due to the shorter length of courses, dropping or withdrawing from all winterim courses after the term begins may result in a “W” on your record, as well as a reduction in your refund or possible financial aid repayments.  Make sure to talk to an advisor within ARCC before dropping courses after the winterim session begins.

Dropping a Class Before Winterim Term Begins

You can drop one or each of your courses in CampS. To completely withdraw from winterim courses, you just need to successfully drop each of your courses. No other action is required to withdraw from the term.

Dropping a Class After Winterim Term Begins

  1. Complete the winterim drop/withdrawal eform. Make sure to read and understand the Statement of Responsibility and Financial aid Recipients sections of the eform.
  2. Blugold Central will send you an email once your request has been processed. We will then also notify you of any account balance or financial aid repayment you are responsible for.

Drop a Summer Session Class

You can drop summer session courses at any point before the term begins without consequences. Due to the shorter length of courses, dropping or withdrawing from all summer courses after the term begins may result in a “W” on your record, as well as a reduction in your refund or possible financial aid repayments as these deadlines are calculated based on the class length. Make sure to talk to an advisor within ARCC before dropping courses and before the summer session begins. Your date of withdrawal can have an impact on tuition/fee charges, possible financial aid repayments owed to the institution, and whether a "W" grade will be assigned to your academic record.

After the term begins, students CANNOT drop/withdraw from ALL of their classes on CampS.

Due to the length of short-term courses, all academic and refund deadlines are prorated. Refunds resulting from a withdrawal are calculated based on the class length. Your date of withdrawal can have an impact on tuition/fee charges, possible financial aid repayments owed to the institution, and whether a "W" grade will be assigned to your academic record.

The class length calculation is based on the start and end date of the class dates listed on the Class Schedule. The Term Session Information and Dates is available in CampS . This includes the last day to add and withdraw based on the course length.

The Refund Schedule / Financial Aid Repayment Notice website also has refund information specific to the length of the course.

The withdrawal deadlines and the refund schedule DO NOT ALWAYS MATCH.

A decision to withdraw should be given careful consideration. Withdrawal can have a major impact in terms of veteran's benefits, financial aid, and other situations which have specific consequences from withdrawal. If you are considering withdrawing, you may want to consult with an adviser and Blugold Central (Vicki Lord Larson 1108, 715-836-3000) prior to completing the process so that you may discuss the best possible outcomes for your individual circumstances.

Prior to the Start of Summer Session

Students who are withdrawing from the Summer Session prior to the start of the term may do so using CampS.

1. Drop each of your classes: In CampS go to Manage Classes > Drop Classes. If you are able to successfully drop all of your classes on CampS, no other action is required to withdraw from the term.

2. Review your Schedule in CampS to verify that all courses have been dropped.  Note: You will still be eligible to enroll for future terms.

After the Start of Summer Session

Students who wish to drop/withdraw from the ALL Summer Session courses after the start of the term can complete the eform.

1. Complete a summer drop/withdrawal eform
Prior to submitting the eform, ensure you read and understand the Statement of Responsibility and Financial Aid Recipients sections of the eform.

2. Notification: After your withdrawal eform has been received and processed you will receive an email notification to your UWEC email account indicating your request has been processed.

3. Account Review: Blugold Central Bursar's Unit will review your account information and determine the account balance. Please note that if you are a financial aid student you may owe a repayment.
