If you are an incoming Blugold for the Spring 2027 semester, please see the appropriate page below for information on placement testing ahead of orientation. Incoming first year students are required to take placement tests. Online test registration for Spring 2027 admits is open NOW.
Exams for Current Students
UW-Eau Claire offers paper-based placement tests for current students in the areas of Math, English, French, German and Spanish. In-person tests are recommended for current students. If interested in taking a placement test on campus, students should use their Navigate360 app to schedule an individual testing session. Consult with your academic advisor to determine if you should take these tests before signing up.
Placement tests are given in standard time (Math/English = 90 minutes, French/German/Spanish = 60 minutes). If you need accommodations for your tests, contact academictesting@uwec.edu before you schedule your test through Navigate.
Additional Information on Language Placement Options
- American Sign Language: Students will need to complete an eform to request an American Sign Language (ASL) placement test with our SLHS department.
- French, German, and Spanish: Paper-based placement tests are available through the Advising, Retention + Career Center. Current students can schedule a placement test time through Navigate360.
- Greek, Hmong, Latin, and Ojibwe and other languages: Students with prior experience in these and any other languages should contact languages@uwec.edu to inquire about placement testing options.
- Japanese and Chinese: Placement tests are available through Canvas, our online learning portal. Students will need to e-mail academictesting@uwec.edu to request access to either course to complete these tests.
