Experience the fun
Each year, campus hosts a variety events that tie directly to the students living in the residence halls. We welcome new and returning students during welcome week, host homecoming festivities, and invite Blugolds to have family visit.

Family Weekend: Oct. 24-26, 2025
Updates for the Weekend:
- For dinner at Hilltop on Friday, Oct. 24th – we are expanding dinner hours 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM. When you get into Riverview, you will be able to purchase your tickets to eat at the register. If your student has it as part of their meal plan to eat in Hilltop, they will just be able to scan their Blugold ID as normal to get in for dinner.
- For Saturday, Oct. 25th – we have expanded the entertainment options for Saturday night. In addition to Cars being shown in Woodland Theater at 7:00 PM, we will have entertainment in the Dakota Ballroom (located on the third floor of Davies) as well as Bingo to play in Marketplace (located on the first floor of Davies.) We are aiming to also have entertainment/open mic in the Cabin – see website for updates. We have expanded Dueling Pianos to be from 7 PM – 10 PM.
- Due to the high volume of families attending Family Weekend, we are asking for your help to make this free event possible by splitting how families attend Dueling Pianos. We ask if your last name starts with A-L, please plan on come to Dueling Pianos from 7-8:30 PM and if your last name starts with M-Z , please plan on coming to Dueling Pianos from 8:30-10 PM.
- There are no tickets required for Dueling Pianos.
- Tours in the Non-Traditional Halls:
- Tours will be self-guided. We will have staff members along each tour route to help answer questions and help direct. Tours will still start in the lobby of each participating hall (Aspenson Mogensen, Haymarket Landing, The Suites, and Chancellors) on Saturday, Oct. 25th from 3:30 -5:30 PM.
General Information for the Weekend:
- Family Weekend Check In on Friday, Oct. 24th in Hilltop is encouraged, but not required. If you missed the Family Weekend Merch order – we will be selling extras as supplies last. We will also be able to help answer any questions you may have about the weekend. If you can’t make check in, don’t sweat it! This is to help us track how many families came for the weekend to help with future planning.
- We encourage you to purchase your Football tickets ahead of time if you are planning on going to the game. Order your tickets online or call 715-836-4636 to secure your Family Weekend Football tickets. UWEC students get in free with their student ID. Siblings & Parent tickets will be $10.00.

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM: University Bookstore is open

5:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Check into Family Weekend to let us know you are here! We will also have any Family Weekend Merch you ordered ready for pick up. If you missed the deadline to order Family Weekend Merch, we will have extras available while supplies last.
Location: Hilltop Center
4:30 PM – 8:30 PM: Family Dinner at Riverview Cafe Join Blugold Dining for interactive activities for families to participate in while eating a great meal. Keep an eye on the website for more information as we get closer to Family Weekend. The cost per person is $11.48 and you will pay upon entering the dining center. No ticketed needed ahead of time. Your student can use their meal plan if applicable for Riverview Cafe.

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Night at Hilltop Join Recreation and Housing & Residence LIfe for a night of activities at Hilltop! There will be billiards, bouldering, golf-simulator, and family trivia! Family Trivia will begin in the Hilltop Lounge at 7 PM. Free for families to attend.

6:00 PM: Cabin Show Come see local, live music in our coffee house concert series, the Cabin! Free for all and music starts at 6. Free for families to attend.

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: University Bookstore open

9:00 AM & 9:15 AM: Putnam Trail River Hike Join a hike led by our Recreation staff along the beautiful river side trial. Meet outside Hilltop to start the hike. The hike will last roughly 30 minutes. If it is sprinkling, we will still have staff lead the hike. If it is pouring rain/storming the hike will be cancelled. Free for families to attend.

1:00 PM: UW-Eau Claire vs. UW-River Falls Football Game Tailgate (food not provided for tailgate) begins 2 hours before the game! Join us at Carson Park to cheer on the Blugolds. The Marching Band will be performing their show during half-time. You won’t want to miss it! We encourage you to get your tickets ahead of time. Order your tickets online or call 715-836-4636 to secure your Family Weekend Football tickets. UWEC students get in free with their student ID. Siblings & Parent tickets will be $10.00.

3:30 PM – 5:30 PM Non-Traditional Housing Tours Explore non-traditional living options by taking a guided tour through UWEC Housing’s apartment and suite style buildings. No sign up needed. Tours will start in the lobbies of each hall every 10-15 minutes. Free for families to attend.

5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Open Swim Enjoy the pool for open swim! This is free for families and students.
Location: McPhee Pool
7:00 PM Family Friendly Campus Film Join us for a family friendly movie! We will be showing the movie Cars. Free for families to attend.
Location: Woodland Theater
7:00 PM – 10:00 PM Dueling Pianos Join a great performance by Howl2GO Dueling Pianos for a 3 hour energetic performance. You will be able to request songs during the performance, enjoy wonderful music, and be entertained! Free for families to attend.

Parking Information
If you are arriving after 4:00 PM on Friday, you may park in any designated 'F', 'S', 'F/S', or 'R' stall on campus without fear of enforcement. Enforcement returns in those permit-required areas at 6:00 AM on Monday. AMP pay-to-park zones are enforced daily during the hours of 8:00 AM-9:00 PM.
