Job Duties:

This is a university staff position at the Children’s Nature Academy. The official title is Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher. This position is expected to continue contingent on maintaining the required certification.

Support Staff Duties:

This individual will oversee supervision and facilitate developmentally appropriate programming for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years of age by:

1. Promoting health and safety practices including sight and sound supervision, name to face checks before and after all transitions, handwashing and sanitation, etc.

2. Providing direct care to children, including but not limited to planning developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and curriculum enhancement.

3. Supporting staff throughout the facility as a long or short term substitute teacher.

4. Maintain paperwork as required.

5. Pursue life long learning by participation in continuing education: 30 hours in the first year and 25 hours each year after.

6. Maintain ratios and other requirements of licensing, accreditation, CACFP, and the University of Wisconsin

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with basic technical and administrative classroom support
  • Documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations
  • Assists with the planning and facilitation of classroom programming and classroom coordination and organization for a early childhood education facility according to established curriculums
  • Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom
  • Updates and organizes individualized and developmental educational plans for children

Required Qualifications:

  • Entry level coursework required by the Department of Children and families.
  • 6 months of experiences working with young children.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood or a Related Field.
