A full-time university staff position is available in Housing and Residence Life beginning July 6, 2026. The working title of this assignment is Administrative Assistant with an official title of Administrative Assistant II . This is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. The expected hourly hiring salary will be based on qualifications and experience with minimum hourly rate of $23.00 per hour.

Job Duties:

A. MANAGEMENT OF SUMMER HOUSING ASSIGNMENT PROGRAM

Administer all aspects of the summer student housing assignment program. Requires in-depth knowledge of the summer housing program including summer rates and hall placement of individual customers.

B. MANAGEMENT OF RESIDENCE HALL PROCESSES

Process all occupancy-related updates including room changes, withdrawals, emotional support animal requests, and assist in making room assignments. Communicate billing changes to business office.

C. SUPPORT SERVICES

Provide direct support to Associate Director for staff recruitment and selection, duty scheduling, meal plans and parking.

D. MANAGEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL SANCTION PROGRAM

Manage all administrative work relating to the housing disciplinary and educational sanction system. Assess course and damage assessment fees related to student conduct.

E. INFORMATION FLOW/VERBAL COMMUNICATION OF INFORMATION

Serve as first-point of contact for face-to-face, email and phone inquiries to the housing office. Provide immediate assistance , or when appropriate, triage and refer to correct staff person for additional assistance.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a first point of contact for individuals and groups, provides basic organizational information via phone, in person and through other communication mediums, and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities
  • Collects, analyzes, and prepares various communication materials from established sources utilizing technology mediums
  • Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures under general supervision
  • Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations

Department:

The unit of Housing and Residence Life consists of 26 staff members serving just under 4000 residence hall students in 13 residence halls.

Compensation: $23/hour

Required Qualifications:

A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel; ability to perform advanced mathematic calculations for student room rate pro-rations and billing; ability to interpret University rules, regulations and policies related to housing; experience with high volume, high traffic customer inquiries; ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. High School diploma and at least 3 years of experience working in a high-volume, high-traffic setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and in-depth understanding of complex database systems; experience managing multi-step administrative processes on time and without error; experience providing administrative assistance to multiple administrators at one time. Bachelor’s degree.
