POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in College of Business beginning January 1, 2026. The working title of this assignment is Communications and Student Engagement Coordinator with an official title of Outreach Program Coordinator. This is a renewable position, contingent on performance. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Must be a current employee of UW-Eau Claire or UW-Eau Claire Barron County.
The Communications and Student Engagement Coordinator develops and implements College communication strategies. The Coordinator supports undergraduate student success by planning and executing events, strengthening strategic community partnerships, and advising the student leadership teams of all COB student organizations. Serving as a key liaison between students, Admissions, employers, alumni, and the campus community, the Coordinator fosters student engagement, career readiness, and professional development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current employee of UW-Eau Claire or UW-Eau Claire Barron County.
- Master’s degree in business communications, or a related field.
- Excellence in oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop communication strategies and materials.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning.
- A demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching introductory communication courses.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully plan and implement campus and community outreach activities.
DUTIES:
- Eligible for Appointment as Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, Assistant Teaching Professor, Lecturer, Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor; Business Communications (30%)
6 credits / 15 credits = 40%; 9 months / 12 months = 75%; 40% x 75% =0.75 30%
- Teach two, three-credit courses in BCOM each semester
- Participate in department service as appropriate
- COB Communications (30%)
- Create COB social media strategy
- Create the Dean’s communication strategies with various audiences (faculty/staff, alumni, advisory boards, etc.)
- Develop and maintain the Dean’s Office branding (LinkedIn profile, etc.)
- In collaboration with University Marketing and Admissions, revise and maintain printed recruiting materials (brochures, rack cards, etc.),
- Create presentations (faculty/staff retreat, alumni events, advisory board meetings, etc.)
- Serve as COB liaison to University Marketing for COB website
- Events (15%)
- Plan, coordinate, and execute events, including but not limited to student preview days and admitted student days (see below), Junior Achievement Titan Business Challenge, Chamber of Commerce breakfast, annual Scholarship Banquet, study snack breaks, and holiday door-decorating contest
- Plan and execute alumni engagement events in various locations, including but not limited to the Twin Cities, Eau Claire, and Madison
- Coordinate with SPDP staff to identify, recruit, and secure business professionals for SPDP workshops
- Collaborate with dean’s assistant to develop event budgets and manage related financial resources
- Key Partnerships (Admissions, Alumni, Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement) (10%)
- Serve as the liaison with Admissions for recruitment initiatives, including preview days and admitted student days (as mentioned above), orientation, academic opening day
- Lead Admissions-related yield campaigns, analyze data
- Explore additional collaborations with Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement
- Collaborate with dean’s assistant to develop activity budgets and manage related financial resources
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with employers, alumni, and other community members to identify potential donor opportunities
- Develop and maintain COB alumni database
- College of Business Student Advisory Council (COBSAC) (10%)
- Advise COBSAC, guiding student leaders in their organizational roles
- Support and coordinate COBSAC-led events
- Promote leadership growth and professional development among Council members
- Encourage collaboration and communication between COBSAC and other campus groups
- Train student organizations on best practices for social media
- Monitor student organization accounts as needed
- Supervision of Student Intern(s) (5%)
- Recruit, train, and supervise student intern(s) in areas such as marketing, event planning, community outreach, etc.
- Collaborate with dean’s assistant to develop intern budgets and manage financial resources
- Conduct informal performance reviews with intern(s) each semester
- Other duties as assigned
