Explore the Professional Studies program at UW-Eau Claire

The bachelor of science in professional studies, beginning fall semester 2024, is a degree completion program ideal for a variety of students. The major is designed for students who have completed a two-year technical associate degree or students who have completed a significant number of college credits and wish to complete a bachelor’s degree. Students in this program will select concentrations based on their areas of interest. UWEC's professional studies program is designed to build on your experience — providing the depth employers are looking for in critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

Students must have completed at least 30 credits to enter the program. Students with a completed Associate of Applied Science degree from a Wisconsin Technical College System institution can transfer up to 60 technical credits toward the Professional Studies major.

Why complete my Professional Studies degree at UW-Eau Claire?

Finish what you started. Your previous coursework will count toward your overall credit requirements for this program. Whether you enter with a partial bachelor's degree or a completed associate degree, your credits will transfer — helping you take the final step to earning your bachelor’s degree.

Exceptional support. You will work directly with an advisor to ensure you are selecting courses that will move you along your career path and meet graduation requirements. With this support along the way, completing the next step of your education is closer than you think.

Study what interests you. You will choose from academic concentrations in Professional Communication, Health and Wellbeing, Social and Behavioral Sciences, or Natural and Physical Sciences to focus your studies; you can also work with an advisor to design your own concentration. These concentrations will align with your already-completed credits and give you the knowledge and skills to thrive.

Opens doors to your future. In February 2024, the Wisconsin Policy Forum projected that between now and 2030, more than half of jobs paying $50,000 annually will require a bachelor’s degree. Earning this degree not only unlocks new career paths, but it can also help you advance within the career you already have. Upon graduation, you can enter or advance in a wide range of positions, especially those that value critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.
