The UW-Eau Claire Office of Institutional Research provides numerous analytical studies and reports for institutional decision making; maintains historical records of institutional data, provides data requested by UW System and external agencies; serves as liaison with UW System for the Central Data Requests (CDR); maintains compliance and conducts institutional research.
ALERT:
UW-Eau Claire is in the process of transitioning from its current mainframe-based administrative computing system to the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions software package. Campus Community (our integrated "people" information) and Admissions data have already transitioned to Campus Solutions. Target go-live dates for financial aid, student enrollment, curriculum, and student financials range from February through August 2010.
What this means for the Office of Institutional Research (IR): We will need to re-develop EVERY report and process in our office.
What IR has been doing to prepare for the data conversion: Beginning fall of 2008 we embarked on the process of planning for the data conversion and re-defining our department: who we are, what our priorities are, and how we can best serve the Campus Community. The process included a needs analysis, surveying administrators and support staff, surveying IR peers, collecting data, and a planning retreat. We are in the process of finalizing our recommendations and will be forwarding them to administration in the near future.
What this means for the Campus Community: Data and reports that IR has historically provided may or may not be available beginning fall semester, 2010. We are in the process of finalizing a critical data needs document and will be re-developing new processes and reports based on the priorities established in the document. Effective fall 2010, all continued processes and reports will need to be re-developed -- which will require a huge amount of time and resources, meaning:
- data and reports will not be done/delivered the same as in the past
- data and reports may not be immediately available
- you may need to plan for alternative data resources for a year or two
Feel free to contact our office if you have concerns about your future data needs. We look forward to working with you through this transition -- and believe it to be a great opportunity to take a fresh look at how we do business. We assure you that we will do our best to meet the future data needs of the UW-Eau Claire Campus Community.
Did you know that every academic year we:

- Generate 125 statistical reports totaling 482 pages
- Generate 91 Factbook reports totaling 529 pages
- Complete or contribute to 40 surveys totaling 593 pages
- Respond to ad hoc requests for data:
2008-09 = 81

2006-07 = 36
2005-06 = 22
