Apply for a SELF loan

If you are a Minnesota resident, the SELF loan may be a good alternative loan option if you need additional funds to cover your college costs.  Under this loan program, a credit-worthy co-signer is required, and you must be prepared to make quarterly interest payments.  Average processing time is 4 - 6 weeks.

Step 1

To apply for SELF Loan, you must first have completed a FAFSA, be enrolled at least half-time, and be making Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Step 2

You can learn more about the MN SELF Loan, review the current interest rates, and access the loan application at the MN Office of Higher Education

Step 3

You must complete the entrance counseling questionnaire first on the SELF Loan website.  Once you have completed the counseling, the application will be available for you to fill out.
