Spring commencement ceremonies set for May 16 at The Sonnentag
A total of 1,636 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students will graduate during spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 16, at The Sonnentag.
Candidates from the College of Business and the College of Health and Human Sciences will receive diplomas at a 9 a.m. ceremony.
Candidates from the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Nursing will receive diplomas at a 2 p.m. ceremony.
A total of 1,467 students are candidates for bachelor’s degrees, including 600 from the College of Arts and Sciences, 385 from the College of Business, 398 from the College of Health and Human Sciences and 84 from the College of Nursing.
A total of 169 Blugolds are candidates for graduate degrees. In the College of Business, 63 students are candidates for master’s degrees while 45 are candidates in the College of Health and Human Sciences. In the College of Arts and Sciences, 38 students are candidates for master’s degrees and 10 students are candidates for specialist in education degrees. A total of nine students are candidates for doctor of nursing practice degrees and four are candidates for master of science in nursing degrees from the College of Nursing.
During the 9 a.m. ceremony, Sophia DeByl of Fifield, a candidate for a bachelor of music in applied voice, will lead the national anthem. Zachary Cardille of Circle Pines, Minnesota, a candidate for a bachelor of arts in social studies teaching, will give the “Blugold Reflections.” The title of his reflections piece is “This Too Shall Pass.” Hunter Martin of Elgin, Illinois, a candidate for a bachelor of music education with choral emphasis degree will lead the alma mater.
During the 2 p.m. ceremony, Senja Sippert of Oshkosh, a candidate for a bachelor of arts in music, will lead the national anthem. Marissa Day of Anoka, Minnesota, a candidate for a bachelor of arts in journalism and Spanish, will give the “Blugold Reflections.” The title of her reflections piece is “One Final Campus Tour.” Soren Johnson of Fall Creek, a candidate for a bachelor of music in applied voice degree, will lead the alma mater.
In celebration of their lifelong commitment to UW-Eau Claire, honorary doctorate of science degrees will be given to John and Carolyn Sonnentag.
Zach Halmstad ’04, co-founder of Jamf and Pablo Group, will deliver the “Charge to the Class.”
