Biography

Biography

Dr. Rohit Singla is an Assistant Professor in Physics & Astronomy and is establishing the Assistive Robotics & Human Interaction Laboratory (ARHI Lab) at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. His research integrates control theory, human–robot interaction, and experimental systems to develop safety-aware assistive robotic technologies. Before joining UW–Eau Claire, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Universidad de O’Higgins in Chile, focusing on soft robotics, delay-robust control, and autonomous navigation. He holds a Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Delhi. Dr. Singla is committed to undergraduate research mentorship and is developing new research opportunities for students at UW–Eau Claire. He enjoys long runs, forest walks, and exploring scenic trails.

Research Overview

My research focuses on integrating human intent and safety in robotic systems. I study how shared autonomy, redundancy-aware control, and haptic feedback can improve performance in assistive and human-centered robotic tasks. A central goal of this work is to develop research projects that are experimentally grounded, reproducible, and well-suited for undergraduate involvement.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

The ARHI Lab supports undergraduate research through paid summer projects, independent study, and capstone collaborations, subject to funding availability. Interested students are encouraged to visit the lab website or contact Dr. Singla directly.
