Erin Hisey has been involved in the theatre since birth, having been born into a theatrical family. Her grandmother an English and Dram teacher and her father also has his MFA in Design. She received her MFA in Scenography (Scenic, Lighting, and Costume Design) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her BFA in Technical Production and Design from New York University. She taught at the University of West Alabama before happily moving to Eau Claire to work here at UWEC. Erin has worked as a designer for various institutions and companies across the country as well as designing museum exhibits for the Children’s Hands-On Museum in Alabama. Previous design work here at UWEC includes the scenic and lighting design for Roustabout: The Great Circus Train Wreck, The Tempest, Company, Waiting For Godot, and lighting design for Shipwrecked!, and the opera Don Giovanni. Erin has also served the theatre community by presenting workshops, lectures, and master classes at various theatre festivals and conferences. As an advocate for equality, diversity and inclusivity in education and the arts she hopes to continue this work as a member of the Music and Theatre Arts Department’s EDI Committee as well as in her classroom and production work.
