The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire holds events during April to promote the importance of sustainability and getting students involved in new initiatives! These events provide hands on experiences for students, staff, and faculty to enjoy and learn. Green Week provides a range of fun activities during the month of Earth Day (April 22nd).

Earth Month Events 

State of Sustainability

  • On April 9th, 2024, from 12-1 pm, the Administrative Office of Sustainability will be presenting on the “state of sustainability” at UWEC. This year will be a presentation on Decarbonization Opportunities at UWEC from 2024-2050. The presenters will be Lily Strehlow and a guest presenter- Amanda Wendling, who is a mechanical engineer from HGA and was directly involved in outlining and developing the decarbonization opportunities for UWEC. Tracy Drier, the interim VC for Finance, will also give a brief address. Individuals need to register ahead of time and can do so at this link

Earth Claire

  • April 22nd, 11am-3pm
  • Earth Claire is an event sponsored and organized by the Student Office of Sustainability at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
  • We are imagining it as a fair-like tabling event with representation from many different environmental and sustainability-focused organizations, on-campus and from the community.
  • There will be games, food, giveaways, music, demonstrations, and more!
  • Basically, this will be an opportunity for UW-Eau Claire students to learn about and perhaps join some of these organizations while having fun!

Blugold Makerspace Earth Week Activities

  • Join the Blugold Makerspace for a variety of ecocrafts in honor of Earth Week!
  • Earth Claire - campus mall (Monday 4/22): Bubble Paper + T-shirt totebags
  • Freezer Paper Screen Printing - Blugold Makerspace (Tuesday, 4/23): 1-2pm
  • Mending 101 (Wednesday 4/24)- Blugold Makerspace: 1-2 PM
  • Decorate a Book End (Thursday, 4/25)- Blugold Makerspace: 2-3pm

Eau Claire County Earth Week Open House

  • April 25th, 4-8pm at The Brewing Projekt. No registration required! Individuals must be 21+
  • Learn about your eco-friendly resources in the Chippewa Valley and how you can jumpstart sustainability in your life!
  • Grab a beverage and explore the basics of sustainability, and win prizes!
  • Get inspired by vendors like Eau Claire Garden Club, Eco-Minded, Focus on Energy, and more! (30+ vendors)

The Amazing Eau Claire Clean-Up

  • Saturday, April 20th from 9am-12pm. 
  • The event, organized by Eau Claire Parks, Recreation, and Forestry, sends volunteers to assigned locations throughout the city including community parks, neighborhood playgrounds, picnic areas, recreational trails, and downtown to pick up litter.
  • The Amazing Eau Claire Clean-up is a great opportunity for people to work together and make a difference in our community. Volunteers may register individually or as groups. Businesses are encouraged to participate! T-shirts, snacks, garbage bags, and local discounts provided to each participant.
