Learn Where Nursing Happens
Nursing clinicals and practica are where classroom learning comes to life. Beginning early in the BSN program, students gain hands-on experience in real healthcare settings—building confidence, competence, and professional identity through meaningful patient care.
From simulation to community-based practice, clinical experiences are intentionally designed to prepare you for the realities of nursing from day one.
Diverse Clinical Experiences
Students learn in a wide range of clinical and practicum settings that reflect the communities they will serve. These experiences help students develop practical skills, clinical judgment, and cultural awareness across the lifespan.
Clinical placements include:
- Acute care hospitals
- Community clinics and public health departments
- Extended care and long-term care facilities
- School and community-based health settings
Placements are located throughout Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and Marshfield, offering exposure to both urban and regional healthcare environments.
Practice, Prepare, Perform
Clinical courses begin in the second semester of the professional nursing program, allowing students to apply foundational knowledge early. Before and alongside clinical placements, students build skills and confidence in the College of Nursing’s technology-rich skills lab and simulation center.
With continued access to simulation, skills practice, and faculty guidance, students are supported every step of the way as they transition from the classroom to patient care.
