New Student Orientation looks for energetic, engaged students to work for our team - and we have positions available each year. Our positions offer competitive pay AND options for free housing during employment. Orientation & Welcome Interns:
Applications: Closed (will open in November 2026 for spring/summer 2027 employment)
- Orientation Interns are student managers who oversee our staff of Orientation Assistants (see below). They specialize in administrative and logistical aspects of running our orientation programs, facilitate training and social activities for our OA staff, and work with faculty and staff on campus in leading some of our major activities during Blugold Experience Days. Employment Timeframe: January-August.
- Our Blugold Welcome Intern manages all major aspects of event planning for our Blugold Welcome series of events in the fall (including the brainstorming, organization, and implementation processes), and oversees our team of Blugold Welcome leaders. Employment Timeframe: January-September.
Interns will average 5-10 hours/week throughout the spring (Feb-May), and then will work 25-40 hours/week(depending on the position) in the summer and early fall (June-August/September). Pay starts at $14.00/hour with returner pay increases each year.
Orientation Assistants (OAs):
Application: Closed (will open in January 2027 for summer 2027 employment)
- OAs help welcome incoming students and their families to campus through a variety of fun programs and events during the summer. This position offers 30-40 hours per week with competitive pay, as well as free housing on campus. Students will gain significant communication, leadership, and program planning skills and collaborate with a variety of offices across campus. We hire 20-25 students each summer. Employment Timeframe: May-August.
Blugold Welcome Leaders:
Application: Closed (will open in January 2027 for summer/fall 2027 employment)
- Welcome leaders work the first few weeks of school prepping for and managing welcome events for new students – check out our main page here! Welcome leaders get the chance to work both on and off-campus, connect with community businesses, and gain event planning experience. Options for early move-in will also be available to those living in the residence halls for the fall term. We hire 8-10 students each fall. Employment Timeframe: August-September.
